How to construct grids to represent trace gas profiles?
The tangent heights to be assigned to a VMR profile are the set of ‘engineering heights’ in the scaninfoADS (field#6), after addition of the height increment corrections in delta_z. Alternatively, the retrieved tangent pressures (field#7 in MDS#1) can be used. In a general case the assignment of quantities has to be performed as in the following example (sweep=individual limb spectrum; p_tan=array containing fitted tangent pressures; index=array element in pt, VMR#1, .. profiles): sweep tangent lfit index lfit index Remarks index height p&T p_tan, VMR#i VMR#i [km] delta_z (gas#i, i=1-6) ——————————————————————————– 0 53 1 0 0 [VMR not fitted in range 1 50 1 1 0 53 km – 44 km] 2 47 0 0 sweep#2 corrupted L1B input 3 44 1 2 0 4 41 1 3 1 0 5 38 1 4 1 1 6 35 1 5 1 2 … … 14 11 1 13 1 10 15 8 1 14 1 11 ================================================================================ 16 15 12 = total no.
