What makes you think you have enough scale on the inside of your pipes to cause a problem? Pressure drops are typically from four sources in no particular order: a) Clogged water service or reduced city pressure. Put a pressure gauge on your water-service and see what the standing pressure vs. flow pressures are. If the flow pressure is much lower than the standing pressure at your water meter, you have a flow-restriction in the service itself. b) Clogged, damaged or worn service valves – a “worn” valve may have a loose washer or some other defect that is causing a pressure drop, or a piece of scale or similar is partially blocking the valve. c) Clogged, damaged or worn valves at the individual faucets – usually such valves leak vs. clog, but again, contaminants or worn parts may cause low flow. d) Clogged flow-restrictors (often part of the aerators).
