How to choose between the different stones?
Granite is frequently chosen for kitchens, vanities, fireplaces surrounds, bar tops and floors because it is virtually indestructible—able to withstand considerably high-impact heat, water, wear, acid and liquid exposures. Marble is softer and less durable, but it also demonstrates a more dramatic effect, making it perfect for fireplace surrounds or bathroom vanity tops. Limestone provides a soft and calming look, but cannot withstand a high polish, so it is generally recommended for flooring or bath areas. Slate is characterized by a variety of vibrant colors in different patterns and textures, making it ideal for flooring and fireplace surrounds.
