How to Care for an Iguana
Depending on the size of the iguana, you will need a 30 – 50 gallon aquarium. Iguanas can grow up to 4-6 feet long, so it will outgrow the aquarium pretty fast. You will need to provide a UVB producing fluorescent tube light, a basking lamp and cage furniture. Provide proper food for it, including collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens and dandelion greens as a base, with peas and orange or yellow squash, and sweet potatoes as a side. It will also need a calcium supplement without D3 added. You will also need 2 thermometers and a thermostat device. Iguanas need to be warm to digest their food so the temperature in the aquarium needs to be about 80 degrees F with a hot spot at 90 degrees F at one end. Do not feed it any protein which includes crickets and meal worms, and do not feed it lettuce as it has no nutritional value at all.You can find more information here: http://www.reptilecare.com/IgCare.
