How to Caramelize Apples?

0

My mother would slice good cooking apples and soak them in lemon juice and water for a while, and then drain them and pat them dry. She would put a couple tablespoons of butter in a skillet and heat it till it was hot, but not burnt! She would put the apple slices in the butter and cook and stir them for about 5 minutes. Then she would put about 5 tablespoons of of brown sugar on the apples and keep stirring them to make sure they didn’t burn. When they were golden brown, she would take them off the heat. We ate these with ham or pork chops. My daughter in law likes them on ice cream for a desert! This is not a dish you can walk away while they are cooking–stay there and stir them!
