How to Build Weather Instruments?
To build a weather instrument, the barometer, find a clear glass with straight sides. Using a water-resistant glue, glue a length of plastic tubing to a twelve-inch ruler, about half an inch from one end. Place the ruler and tubing into the glass so that the ruler touches the bottom and glue to the glass. Next, fill the glass about halfway with clean water. Draw water through the tubing until water completely fills the bottom half of the tubing. Seal the top of the tubing with a putty type sealer. As the weather changes, you should notice the water going up and down in the glass, resting in different spots on the ruler.
