Some things you’ll need to build your Grape Arbor: 6 6×6 posts, 8 or 10 ft long, 9 6′ round fence posts, 2 4×4 posts 10 or 12 ft long, concrete, long nails, a saw, shovel or post hole digger, hammer, and a ladder. To begin, make sure you plant grapes suitable for your climate. The Dig holes for your 6 posts, 5.5 ft apart in two rows which are about 5 ft apart. Finished holes should look like the six corners of a domino. Next, cut a 4×4 inch on the inside top of each of the six posts. Set your six 6×6 posts in concrete in each of the previously dug holes, this will make the L-shaped cutout on the inside of the arbor. Set the two 4×4 posts over the 2 rows into the L-shaped cutout and nail in place with the long nails. Go back to cutting, to make a notch in each end of the fence posts, these will fit over the 4×4 lengths.
