How to boot a remote system on a local computer through network.?
How can you remote boot your main computer if your network computers don’t have the ability to boot itself. Only think I can suggest (though never used, but you can research for it) is “wake up on lan”. It is special feature of motherboard+network card (usually built-in that motherboard). If you activate this feature by using the option of “wake up on lan” in BIOS setting of main computer. The main computer will be turn off,but still receive power from network cable and keep monitoring network traffic. When it receive a special type of network packet (send by another system, signaling to boot), it power itself on. (i.e. atleast one client computer must have operating system , must have that program to generate that special packet to send to main computer) check this for more details:- http://gammadyne.com/cmdline.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake-on-LAN
