That is NOT a windows security center alert. The real Windows Security Center will not invite or suggest you download any programs. It might warn you to turn on Windows Firewall, if it’s not (if you have another firewall program, you don’t need both), and/or warn you your antivirus isn’t loaded or not up to date. It will never suggest a program to install. What you describe is a scam window to convince you to load the program, which is likely actually malware in itself. If you’re not using a pop-up blocker and antispy programs already, you should install either Yahoo or Google toolbar (both if you really want), and if you’re on XP SP2, make sure that pop-up blocker is active. If you keep getting the window, you’re already infected, though probably not too seriously. At minimum download the free Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D and run scans (if you get Spybot, use the advanced mode and install Tea Timer, which is resident protection).
