Look up your state’s secretary of state website or telephone number to find out which forms to file for a notary public.Read all the notary public requirements before proceeding so you are aware of what is expected throughout the process. You will need to complete the required class which may be held at various places around your state or online. Once you pass you will print out (online) or received your education certificate Fill out the application including your number from your education certificate and pay the filing fee. It usually takes about two weeks for processing and receiving materials back from most states. Remember being a notary is a big responsibility. You can be held criminally liable if the documents you notarize are not legitimate.
