How to become a guitarist?
Well number one: Don’t pay too much attention to retiredroadie. I’ve seen a bunch of his answers and he thinks he is God’s gift or something and that the rest of us are complete idiots that constantly need to be SHOUTED AT! However, mixed in with all his ranting and raving and insults are actually a few truths as well. It takes years and years to be a good guitarist. You must have a special talent to do it, not just the desire or “goal” to do it. I started learning at 8 yrs old. I’ve been playing for 40 years, some of them professionally and performing on stage or in live settings for 37 of them. I was lucky to have the talent. But I also practiced 3-4 hours a day every day. I played live at church and at local music store jam sessions, community centers, in the band for theater musicals, anywhere and when I could. I didn’t get “noticed” until I was 34.
