How to avoid bypass surgery even if all the arteries are blocked?
My father is 72 years old. His heart capacity is 15% only. He had a bypass 14 years back. Again all the arteries including the bypass arteries are blocked. Is it medically advisable to go for bypass surgery again? The doctors have warned that since the heart is weak, another bypass surgery is dangerous. Can anyone from the medical field throw more light. His condition is precarious now. Answer : Your father should take the advice of his doctors or get a second opinion and make his own decision regarding this. Yes, it is a difficult decision. Some people have pulled through this (My grandfather did and he was at 20% capacity and 75 at the time and had previous bypass before then also, he died at the age of 79). Some do not make it through the surgery unfortunately though.
