How to automatically spin down external LaCie drive after XX minutes idle?

0

Hi there, I have a LaCie D2 Quadra 750GB external HD connected to my Mac Pro (running 10.5.5) and have the LaCie connected via eSATA to a LaCie eSATA PCI-E card. And it all works well except that I want the external drive to power/spin down after a certain amount of time being idle. The reason: The drive, while looking good, running fast and being cool, has a constant very high pitch humming sound that is making constant use absolutely unbareable. When I bought it I thought it was a fanless design but apperantly it does use a fan of some sort. Either way, I’d rather not constantly have to switch the drive On/Off but cannot find a software solution to power/spin down only the external drive after 5min idle time. Any help would be much appreciated.
