How to accurately predict the appearance of new moon( Crescent) for Muslim festivals of ID-UL-FITR?
As seen from Bhopal on 30th September 2008, the thin crescent moon will be only 4 degrees above the horizon at sunset and is very unlikely to be seen. It sets 24 minutes after sunset. On 1st October 2008, the crescent moon will be 12 degrees above the horizon at sunset and will itself set an hour after sunset, so it is very much more likely to be seen on this date.
