How tight sounding is the Chimera? Does it sound sterile?
The Chimera is quite capable of being tight without sounding sterile and that’s actually its primary goal; this is a rare thing in a high gain amp and it’s something that makes the Chimera stand apart from most other amps. However if you’re looking for the tightest response possible from the Chimera you might have to be a bit pickier about the guitar you use, the pickups you choose for them, how far the pickups are from the strings, and how you set your guitar in general to get the right amount of “tightness” for your tastes since all these things factor into how tight an amp responds. Even your choice of pick can affect the tightness of the sound. The Chimera can sound tight but your guitar setup can’t be working against it otherwise you won’t get the sound you’re trying to achieve. Some people have guitars which are inherently loose or tubby sounding and they spend a lot of time trying different amps, pickups or overdrive pedals (for their compression) to make the sound more focused.
