How tight new belt on Singer 201k treadle?
I’ve just got a 1951 singer 201k treadle. needed a new belt – which I have fitted, and shortened several times. I can’t get started when attempting to sew. With the machine disengaged, as if filling a bobbin, it whizzes round. When I engage the rest of the machine, when I turn the wheel over and try and treadle it won’t complete a full circle and goes back on itself. I have oiled every point I can – is the belt still too loose or is something else wrong? Any suggestions very gratefully received.
