To calculate the right cable size, determine the highest possible current that will flow through the cable. For the Combi this is the inverter current. When running at full capacity, the inverter draws around 200A from the batteries (100A for a 24V system). Using the rule that requires every 3 amps to correspond to 1 mm² in cable diameter, the recommended cable thickness for a 12V Mass Combi 2000 (100A) will be 70 mm2 (35 mm² for the 24V version).
