How the Hershey-Chase experiment proved that only DNA was transmitted, not protein?
The phage’s virus coat was radioactive sulfur and the DNA of the phage’s DNA was radioactive phosphate. After the phage infected the bacterial cells, Hershey and Chase examined them and found that the radioactive phosphate, the DNA of the phage, was inside the cell and the radiactive sulfur remained in the phage.
