How the hec can Camilla become Queen?
She can become queen consort by virtue of being married to King Charles. It’s that simple. The wives of kings are queens consort. What else would they be? Perhaps you’re confused by the difference between a queen regnant, a woman who is queen in her own right, like Queen Elizabeth II, and a queen consort who is the wife of a king. Camilla will not be queen regnant, because she is not the heir to the throne. Her husband is. She will, instead, have the same status as the late Queen Mother did when her husband, King George VI, was on the throne.
There is no provision except a morganatic marriage through which Camilla could be denied the technical right to become Queen Consort. The marriage of Camilla and Charles is NOT a morganatic marriage….therefore, even though out of respect and affection for Princes William and Harry, Camilla does not use the title The Princess of Wales….she is ENTITLED to use it. She doesn’t care much about titles..and is quite content to be known as HRH The Duchess of Cornwall….which is another title being married to Prince Charles entitles her to use. The minute Charles becomes King, technically, Camilla is ENTITLED to use the title Queen Consort. Whether or not she will use the title is something Charles will have to decide. Since the government, the Church of England, the Queen, the Queen’s family, Charles’ two sons….did not ever insist on the marriage of Charles and Camilla being a morganatic marriage…..that means they APPROVE of the marriage…without the stipulation that she not be entit
