After liposuction, there is scarring in sub dermal area and permanent decrease in number of fat cells. So, effect of liposuction is permanent. The body’s tendency to store fat in old favourable area no longer continues. If patient does not control diet, he/she will gain weight but it will go to new areas and not in former troublesome areas.
