According to his biographer, Lloyd Lewis (“Fighting Prophet”) Sherman was six feet tall. Other sources (Col. Horace Porter, “Campaigning With Grant”) as well as contemporary newspaper descriptions sometimes put him at “over six feet”. In any event, all sources agree he was quite tall.
