How tall is the wind turbine outside the Da Vinci Science Centers facility, and does it produce electricity?
The wind turbine is 102 feet tall. It produces about 2.4 percent of the building’s energy annually. Energy created by the wind is pumped immediately into the building for use, decreasing the amount of traditional energy sources needed at that moment. In one year, the turbine will produce between 12,200 and 13,300 kilowatt hours of energy. It also prevents the Da Vinci Science Center from releasing 55 pounds of nitrogen oxides, 90 pounds of sulfur dioxides, and nearly 16,000 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
