People who built it were prisoners, soldiers, civilians, and farmers. The Great Wall is more than 4,000miles long and 26 feet tall. It’s even wide enough to drive on it with a car. Today thewall is the only thing that you can see from outer space. Now it is not used for defensebut used for visitors.
Its sides are made of earth, brick and stone, while the top is paved with bricks set in lime, forming a roadway for horsemen. The Great Wall was built entirely by hand and took hundreds of years to complete. The Great Wall starts from Shanhaiguan Pass of Hebei Province in the east along the Bohai Bay. To the west , it extends to the Jiayuguan Pass in Gansu Province in the west desert.
