Oprah Winfrey started out as a weather girl in a small local station in Milwaukee, started her broadcast career at the age of nineteen while standing five foot six inches tall. Her style of emotional adlib delivery made her mark as she pursued the daytime talk show genre. Winfrey has been identified as the progenitor of the confession culture and is credited with promoting self-help programs popularity in the 1990s to the present times.
