How successful is the LCHS German Program?
German has one of the highest pass rates at LCHS (a score of 3 or better) on the Advanced Placement Exam. Each year, over 50% of LCHS German students score above the 80th %ile on the National German Examination. Many former LCHS students have started their college studies just 3 or 4 courses short of a Minor in German at colleges and universities across the US . LCHS students are recognized for their superb skills by German teachers at all levels. Over 120 LCHS students have traveled to Germany in the past years as participants in the German-American Partnership Program. The GAPP exchange between LCHS and Nicolaus-Kistner-Gymnasium is featured in Intercultural Adventures the German-American Partnership Program’s promotional film. The LCHS German program was featured in Boulevard Deutschland, a program of Deutsche Welle TV (German International TV), as a model German program.
