How successful is Child Find at finding missing children?
About 75 – 80% of all missing children registered with Child Find are located. Q: On some posters you see a picture of a child at the age he/ she went missing, and then you also see a picture of the child at an older age. How is this possible? A: If a child has been missing for a long period of time, their physical and facial characteristics will have changed significantly. With the help of sophisticated technology, experts can now create a profile of what a child would look like at an older age. This is done by using photos of family members of the abducted child (especially siblings), computer software and an educated estimate of the aging process. When a photo-aged enhancement of a missing child is displayed on a poster or flyer, it is always accompanied by an original picture of the child at the age of abduction. Q: How is Child Find funded?
