While there are many similarities in terms of course content, the Sociology program at Ryerson has a more structured curriculum than programs at other universities. Our Sociology program allows for specialization within certain sociological fields of interest in the last two years of study. Sociology at Ryerson also differs because we require research and methods courses during your four years of study, giving you practical tools that can be used in the workforce later on. You will graduate having completed your own original research project, with faculty supervision. We are unique in offering students Sociology courses that address practical research within the Greater Toronto Area. We take pride in focusing upon Toronto as a downtown metropolitan social laboratory!
