How Strong is the Job Market for Biomedical Engineers?
As of 2004, there were only 9,700 biomedical engineers working in the industry. However, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the field will see job growth of 27% or more through the year 2014. The aging of the American population along with the desire for cost-effective, high-quality medical equipment will increase the demand for biomedical engineers.
