How strong is the connection between raising chickens in the city to other practices like gardening and composting?
A. Probably pretty strong. People who can stand to keep chickens often do stuff with the resulting chicken poop like gardening and composting. Q. Have you learned of an increased demand for organic eggs? A. Yes, because many American’s sensibilities are very spoiled right now. We can afford $4 coffee drinks and $4 free range eggs. If people were starving they wouldn’t care if they were eating free range eggs. Morality is a luxury in the case of organic eggs. I myself don’t keep chickens so that I can eat ethically superior organic eggs. I keep them for other reasons. One of my fave reasons is how they eat our food scraps. I don’t have to feel guilty for not eating the crusts, so to speak!
