How strictly is the 6 pm course closure enforced?

0

The course closure is not strictly enforced, however, solo runners are discouraged from participating if they cannot run the entire 50 miles in 11 hours or less, a pace of just over 13 minutes per mile. The final 20 miles along County B from Egg Harbor to Sturgeon Bay can be hazardous since it is winding, has narrow shoulders, low visibility, and occasional high speed traffic. Any participants that pass the final exchange point (#9 at mile 44.6) after 5 pm will be asked to wear a green glow necklace for their own safety. Participants who finish AFTER the 6 pm course closure will still receive a medal and a published finish time.
