How statistically valid is the survey?
Because the survey was just launched in 2007, statistical validation will await the results. These will depend on overall response levels, and the degree of difference in response. We will not know these until the first round of survey is complete. We anticipate high levels of validity for total results, where sample sizes will be sufficiently large; however, demographic “slices” of data may require progressively larger amounts of judgment as the sample sizes decrease. It should be recognized that while it is very difficult to meet scientific standards of validity in surveys of this type, the results can nevertheless provide very useful insights into how employees feel about you as an employer. At the company or organizational level, statistical validity will depend significantly on the percentage of employees who complete the survey. You can help improve validity by encouraging participation.
