HIV rarely has symptoms soon after infection. Some people do have flu-like symptoms, but those may not even show up for a few weeks. It could take years for symptoms to show up. Testing: Antibodies usually show up on tests within 3 months of infection, but in rare cases, it could take up to 6 months for the antibodies to show up on tests. You should be tested 3 months after unprotected sex, then retest 3 months later.
