How snowy will it be in Washington DC in 2 weeks?
Well, even if it is not snowy, it is pretty darn cold right now. Last year we had back to back blizzards in Feb (total of about 6ft of snow within the same week). Feb is the coldest and snowiest month here but we also get a lot of freezing rain and ice and wind. At a bare minimum you need some type of coat and hat (the museums will be miserable for you if you are soaking wet). Jeans and sweat pants, flannel shirts (especially with a shirt underneath) will be more than adequate without worrying about tights or long underwear (unless you plan on going ice skating or sledding). My kids go to school every day in similar clothes. I know there are probably not a lot of Goodwill or thrift stores with winter coats but see if you can find one or borrow one. Also, try Craigslist or FreeCycle for free stuff. It doesn’t need to be a parka but something waterproof with a warm lining would be best, it only has to be waist length. Hats & gloves you can actually pick up here at just about any grocery,
