ASL Soil Processing Facilities are located at the Annex, ground floor level of the Kenzo Hemmi Bldg. All requests for the use of these facilities must be e-mailed to l.molina@cgiar.org, with cc to a.boncajes@cgiar.org at least one week before the date of use. Refer to the Guidelines in using ASL Soil Processing Facilities and consult a.boncajes@cgiar.org for any assistance needed. 1. For pH, EC, exchangeable bases, CEC, particle size analysis, available P, K, and B requiring coarse samples (2 mm ,# 10 mesh): The soil required for normal analytical work is fine earth or soil that has been air-dried, crushed and passed through a 2-mm sieve to remove stones, twigs, leaves, stems and roots. Dried soil should be ground to 2 mm size using the Rukhuhia grinder (RG) located in Soil Grinding Room (Rm.148). (available at ASL).
