The choice here is between galvanized steel high-tensile electric fence wire, aluminum electric fence wire, and electric fence polyconductors that consist of polyethylene interwoven with stainless steel, tinned copper, or aluminum wires of varying thickness. Galvanized Steel Wire for Electric Fences: If you opt for a high-tensile fence the choice is easy. Only high-tensile wire will do the job. You can of course use 12.5 gauge high-tensile wire, the wire most commonly used for non-electric high-tensile fences.
