For students who receive compensation, stipends or student financial assistance, the related space should be classified according to the activities performed by the student and should match FA Cost Pool Code of the FRS account(s) from which they are paid. Exceptions should be made for student employees who are working on projects, and whose effort was identified as cost sharing in the sponsored agreement award documentation. For example, student related space should be classified as Sponsored/Organized Research in either of the following circumstances: (i) the student receives compensation or financial assistance (e.g., stipends) from an FRS account that has an FA Cost Pool Code of SOR (Sponsored/Organized Research); or (ii) the student’s effort/compensation represents cost sharing on a grant that has been classified in FRS as Sponsored/Organized Research.
