How should new actors prepare for L.A.?
First of all they should realize that they are not the only actors in Hollywood, and that everyone here is trying to break into the business in some way. They need to be prepared to give 200% of themselves and nothing less. It’s rough! You have to find a place to live, get a job flexible enough to allow time for auditions, attend acting classes, meet with agents, and all while trying to stay in good spirits. It’s a lot to handle when you are in a foreign land like L.A. Most actors, including us who really only have a theater background, have to be willing to relearn the basics of acting.
