How should I decide whether to have 511 routed to a local number, a statewide toll-free number or a national toll-free number?
This depends on where your IVR servers are located. If they are within your state, it is possible to have local routing for those areas within the local calling area of the jurisdiction where the servers are located and toll-free routing for the rest of the region or state. It is recommended that you use a national, rather that statewide, toll-free number to enable transfers to your system from other 511 systems. If your servers are not in your state, the 511 number must be routed to a national toll-free number.
