How should an IEP team determine if the child is making growth?
The data collected supports the team in making judgments about student growth. Ideally, there will be multiple sources of data. For example, let’s say the team is considering improvement in reading. The team might be able to use CBM data collected by the special education teacher, benchmark reading performance data collected in general education and parent observations at home about the student’s reading of more advanced material. This would represent convergent data that support a conclusion.
