The teachers that my classmates and I have the most respect for are the ones who are able to deliver punishments and stick to them. Teachers who are easy to push around gain no respect and if they had any, the respect they get drops. I think this is true for people of any age. At 12 and 13, many students seem to think they are ‘better’ than everyone else. Well, that may be true for all ages, but still. Treat them fairly and do not have teacher’s pets. That will only divide the classroom. If you treat everyone in the same way and are consistent in your discipline, the chances of you being listened to are far greater. It might also be possible to tell them to stop what they are doing and talk with you after class.
