I think most black people, if not all, would take offence at racist ‘jokes’. Racism is on the increase in the UK. People like Rule Britannia and the pinheads in his nazi BNP are, in no small part, responsible for it. I remember the 1970’s when half wits like Jim Davidson and Bernard Manning were spreading their racist filth on our televisions. It seemed to be ‘ok’ at the time and people weren’t really aware that it was in fact racist abuse. Fortunately we have moved on from those backward days. Unfortunately, there are forces at work here in the UK trying to return to them. Quite often black people would put up with the abuse because they were made to feel isolated and separate from the wider society, but because of the work of progressive groups such as the Anti Nazi League, and black civil rights groups, the British have become more educated and sophisticated in their approach.
