How sharp is a penguins beak?
Again the sharpness of the beak will vary with species, but also with individual penguins. In the wild the penguins that nest in burrows (the African, Humboldt, Magellanic, Galapagos and Little Blue) all use their beaks to help dig out the burrows so the beaks get worn down, and in some cases sharpened at the same time. We have been pecked by quite a few penguins and we can say their beaks are sharp enough for it to hurt a lot!
