How severe is the grade inflation at Boston University, MA?
That’s interesting. Grade inflation is a problem at many schools, but students rarely complain about it (these students must be convinced that everyone else’s grades are inflated, but not their own!). Very few students really want lower grades than the ones they are getting! Grade inflation does not help a school compete against others, My guess is that the students whose reviews they are reading about don’t know what they are talking about, especially if they are referring to MIT as an Ivy, which it is not. In the very short run, a school with grade inflation may be able to get a few of its graduates into graduate schools they wouldn’t otherwise have been able to get into, because their GPAs would be higher. However, these selective graduate programs are not stupid, and if they are suddenly getting lots of applicants from a particular school with very high GPAs, they recognize that there is a problem. BU is a pretty good school – not stellar, but pretty good. I don’t know anything cur
