How secure is Billings Pro?
On the software end, Billings Pro is as secure as the machine you have it on. Meaning that if you do not password protect your machine, then it easy for someone to get into your Billings Pro data (on the server or desktop or iPhone). Mac OS X and iOS offers many security feature and rather than complicate the applications, we feel you should leverage the work Apple has put into the OS and secure the machine itself. On the networking end, communication between the apps (desktop/iPhone) and the server are done over an encrypted 128 bit SSL connection. Timecard uses SSL as well with a “self-signed certificate”. This means that when you first connect, your browser will warn you that the certificate is not signed by a known authority. Accept the dialog and continue working. Marketcircle chose to use a self-signed certificate as a compromise between a secure connection with *one* annoying dialog over transmission of your data in plain text.
