How Safe is Online Banking?
The security of your accounts and the reliability of service to you are of utmost importance to FOCUS Bank. Online Banking uses 40-bit and 128-bit encryption, to help safeguard sensitive online transaction information. Encryption is a process that transforms sensitive information into a string of unrecognizable characters before they are sent over the Internet and helps keep your information private between the bank’s computer system and your Internet browser. Your browser should at least support 40-bit encryption to use Online Banking.
HUB takes the security of your accounts very seriously. HUB’s Home Branch – Online Banking uses 128-bit encryption, one of the most advanced technologies available for safeguarding your online banking. (Encryption is a process that transforms sensitive information into a string of unrecognizable characters before they are sent over the Internet. Encryption helps provide a secure channel for data transmission to keep information private between the bank’s computer system and your Internet browser.) Additionally, when you sign up for HUB’s Home Branch, you choose a specific password to add another level of security each time you use the service.
It is extremely safe and secure. We use a combination of the latest online banking technologies to protect data, including password-controlled entry, VeriSign® issued digital ID for the online server, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol for data encryption, and multiple firewall protection. We routinely review the level of online banking activity of all customers and with prenotification, we deactivate service for dormant customers to minimize the potential for unauthorized access and fraudulent use. Additional protections and measures are in place that must remain undisclosed for obvious security reasons. We also utilized a great deal of care in selecting our strategic partners for online services: Digital Insight® for Personal Online Banking and CMM, and Metavante® for bill payment services. Both firms are widely-recognized leaders in the e-banking field.
