How safe is it?
General aviation is as safe as any other mode of travel, if not safer. You don’t need a parachute because airplanes (and helicopters) do not fall out of the sky, even if the engine stops. An aircraft without an engine, even if it’s supposed to have one, is a glider. If an engine quits, for example, the most common cause is because the pilot ran out of gas. In other words, flying is as safe as you make it. How to fly safely, and to deal with the rare emergencies that are beyond the pilot’s influence, will be covered in your training.
Generally speaking, China is a very safe country, and even the large cities like Beijing and Shanghai are very safe. However, there is something you may need to know. • Pickpockets are common in and around tourist sites. • Traffic safety is perhaps a serious threat to you while in China, since many pedestrians and bicycles do not have the right of way. You should use caution when crossing the street and riding a bicycle. • The hotel and dormitories are very safe. Security guards patrol the premises 24 hours a day. Housekeeping staff is respectful of your belongings.
Clinical trials are heavily regulated. To ensure that the highest standards of safety are maintained, trials are required to comply with strict guidelines. These are governed by the EU Clinical Trials Directive and the MHRA (The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) and are approved by an Independent Research Ethics Committee before they can be used in Healthy Volunteers and Patients.
There are no projectiles so there is no pain and no bruises to worry about. The risks to players are only the same as to anyone playing outdoors, (e.g. trip hazards, low branches, stings etc). We run a Mission Briefing before the game starts and it is the responsibility of every player to adhere to the rules, for their own safety. We cannot guarantee an accident won’t happen but we can guarantee that we do everything we can to minimize the risks. And if an accident does happen, our trained staff will be on hand.
We take safety very seriously. Lessons and parties are risk assessed before each lesson and poles are professionally installed and checked before each lesson also. Please note that for parties whilst we appreciate a drink to settle the nerves is ok, we will adapt instruction if you arrive in the studio clearly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
