How safe is it to use the University of Bristol Car Sharing Scheme?
All members’ details are stored securely in the database and works on the principle of anonymously brokering matches. The system will identify possible car share matches and then users will select which match(es) they would like to pursue. At this stage the system will forward the details of the possible match to the individual(s) concerned (via email). This puts the users in control of the information exchange – personal information will only be exchanged if both parties request it. Once both users have approved and exchanged details in this way, this will be considered a brokered match. However we would always advise you to: • Avoid exchanging home addresses with your travelling companion before you meet them. • Arrange to meet in a public place. • Inform a friend or family member of who you will be travelling with, when and to where. • Make sure you show each other a form of ID e.g. driving licence so you know you’re travelling with the right person.
