How safe is electronic filing?
Electronic filing is virtually error-proof. The IRS electronic filing process is so accurate, it greatly reduces the chance that you’ll get ‘one of those letters’ from the IRS. A mathematically erroneous tax return cannot be sent. If there are any problems with the content of your return such as mathematical errors or incorrect social security numbers, your ERO will be notified by the IRS within 48 hours. This offers more time to effect any necessary corrections for an error-free return.
