How safe are silicon implants?
Silicon implants with multilayer shells are deemed the safest implants currently in use. Up until now, medical studies have rendered no evidence that silicon implants are responsible for grave illnesses. Furthermore, studies have not shown a correlation of breast cancer and breast implants. Nevertheless, silicon implants are still foreign objects. The capsule, which develops around the implant keeps it in position and is necessary for a good result. In rare cases a thickening and hardening of this capsule (capsular fibrosis) can occur.
