*Managing Risk is our top priority and we have a great safety record. Our philosophy is that wilderness medical training lies at the core of managing risk; therefore, all Mountain Element leaders are required to have Wilderness First Aid(WFA) certification or Wilderness First Responder certification through WMA, WMI or SOLO. All have our leaders have CPR certification. *Transportation – When we travel in vans, the group and leaders follow rigorous rules put forth in our Staff Manual. Everyone is require to buckle up, and our leaders practice Defensive Driving techniques and follow all road and traffic laws. *Where We Travel – We pick our destinations for a reason. Whether it is in Utah, Vermont, New York, or New Hampshire we travel in locales that are easily accessible and heavily-traveled by volunteers, rangers, and other families and groups. We file travel plans with local management organizations and the forest service and are diligent in preparing and planning for all possibilities
